I will take your health and fitness goals seriously. I understand that losing weight and gaining muscle can be challenging, as well as improving mobility as we age. I want to help you overcome hurdles and reach your goals with an individualized fitness plan, meeting you where you need to be met.
With years of success and experience, I am capable of analyzing your body and creating a program that will help you reach your goals. Most plans include healthy eating and exercise, to ensure the best results for my clients. I will work with you to keep you on track and motivated to reach your fitness goals.
I understand that adapting new fitness habits is difficult and may often fail. My goal is to change your view on fitness, so that it becomes a part of who you are and a part of
your lifestyle. I fully believe that if you practice healthy habits, you will be able to obtain a healthy lifestyle.
I really can't thank you enough for doing these classes. They have really helped to keep me sane during this crazy time.
I would describe your classes to someone who has never been as fun and energetic. The thing I love about the way that you instruct the class is that you are very good at explaining why we are doing certain things. For example, I have worked with other trainers who have you do an exercise and don't explain what benefit you are going to get from it or what muscle group you're working on and why. I like that you explain really clearly how to do things and then show us, I struggle with cross body movements and always have to think, um, right arm left leg and when you show us the movements it all makes sense. I also like that you give options to modify for people that may have injuries are still able to get a good workout.
Sara is upbeat, real, honest, flexible, positive, and supportive. I tell all my friends “she’s like a real woman and mom with curves that sweats along with us, and she even sometimes has to do the modification so she and the classes are not intimidating, like everyone can do it at your own level.” I say that as a compliment. She's very accessible and relatable which is what I know I need. I couldn’t take classes from bodybuilder Barbie and expect her to understand me.
Working with Sara has been a true gift!
So, why do I go to Sara’s class? At the end of the day, it boils down to one word – Sara. Perhaps it’s my age or line of work, but one of the things that draws me to group classes in general is the social aspect. Sara has a way of drawing people that are fun to be around into her classes. Hmmm….. Maybe it’s because she has a bright personality herself? Or perhaps it’s because she has a strict personality that strives to make people improve? Or maybe it’s that blend of the two that makes it fun, yet worthwhile? She also takes the time to explain the moves, and at the same time gives options for all levels of participants. And she also seems to be enjoying herself, which makes it feel welcoming.
Bottom line - if I can find a class that gives me a great workout, is fun (ok – except for burpees and a few others), time passes in a flash, and I feel great afterwards about it, I’m all for it. And if I can get a fist pump or two from instructor in the process…what’s not to like?
Regarding online class:
I really appreciate the emphasis on form, and correcting it when you see it. It's really amazing that you are able to do so much personal training for a class that is on-line.
A big part of what sets you apart from other ZOOM teachers are the following:
1. Absolute dedication to the needs of the students (individual corrections of form, taking your computer on vacations to provide consistency, always keeping reliable days/hours)
2. Marked attempts to keep things mixed around to decrease boredom (sound tracks, routines, moves)
3. Attention to creating group cohesion using your high energy and enthusiasm and engagement so participants still have the feeling of "gym friends".
As I have shared before, you are a remarkable teacher, and have made a huge success within a limiting format.
I would describe your classes as fun cardio/HIIT classes that engage every muscle in the body and leave you drenched in sweat (in the best way possible). I would describe you as a high-energy, engaging instructor that pushes students to the best of their abilities but also places strong emphasis on form and provides modified versions of every exercise to cater to all abilities.
What brings me back? First -- the workouts are great, students ultimately can push themselves as much or as little as they want but when I push myself hard, I see results. I like that it's never the exact same thing, variety is great. I like that we work all different muscle groups. I like that warm-up and cool-down are part of the one hour, because honestly I'm very bad at making myself stretch before/after a workout. I really appreciate that you focus so much on form/technique because too often I see instructors encouraging max reps and max speed without taking the time to explain proper form.
The classes are well-structured: we always start with a warm up, end with a cool down, and have a clearly laid out plan for the workout in the middle. Little to no equipment is needed. Weights aren't necessary, but light weights are great for those participants who want to use them. I use either cans of beans or 10-pound barbells, depending on the exercise. There is often a mix of movements that quickly raise one's heartrate, like burpees, star jacks, and squat jumps (many of these can be explosive, all of them can be modified) and light weight-bearing repetitions like rows and lunges that seems to focus on endurance and strength, not necessarily increased muscle size. There's a variety of movement throughout class and all body parts are touched on in every single class, with some classes focusing a little more on certain areas than others. If one attends class regularly there is a good balance of the body parts that are addressed. It's rare that we do any one movement or pose for more than 45 seconds, which makes any of them feel doable and we cycle through movements/poses often so we get a chance to work certain muscles, give them an adequate rest, and then work them again. I get super sweaty and always feel like I've gotten a great workout. And the workouts frequently kick my a**..
